The SNS JU invests €116 million to further cement European 6G Research and Innovation – SNS JU

The European Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has announced €116 million in funding for 20 new projects at Mobile World Congress 2026, expanding its portfolio to 100 initiatives aimed at advancing 6G research and standardization. These selected projects target critical areas including AI-native network architectures, ultra-reliable non-terrestrial networks, and sector-specific applications in healthcare, industrial manufacturing, and immersive media. Key initiatives like SOVEREIGN-6G will deploy Europe’s first hybrid multi-technology Telco Cloud, while others focus on energy-efficient waveforms and quantum-integrated security to ensure technological sovereignty. This investment, part of a broader €630 million Horizon Europe commitment, aims to accelerate large-scale trials and position European industry leaders to shape global 6G standards.
