Three experimental infrastructure projects under the SNS stream C aim to develop reusable, open EU-wide platforms for validating 6G technologies, with a focus on cell-free networks, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, and immersive extended reality services. 6G-BRICKS delivers modular components and unified control paradigms based on explainable AI, while 6G-SANDBOX provides a modular facility with distributed trial networks across Europe to support end-to-end service provisioning and management plane research. The 6G-XR initiative specifically targets the validation of next-generation XR applications, holographic services, and multi-access edge computing within a cloud continuum to demonstrate energy-efficient, better-than-5G performance. All three projects prioritize long-term reusability, open APIs, and interoperability with O-RAN to ensure the infrastructures remain valid throughout the SNS program lifetime.
