ETSI has approved four new Work Items to advance Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) for 6G, addressing key architectural challenges, security, and AI integration. Work Item 6 focuses on enhanced system and RAN architectures to support sustainable sensing services, while Work Item 7 establishes a framework for embedding security, privacy, and trustworthiness into ISAC deployments. Work Item 8 aims to improve interoperability for AI and machine learning in sensing and communication, and Work Item 9 addresses demonstrability and techno-economics to drive commercial adoption. These initiatives position ETSI to define ISAC as an accessible industrial resource, moving the technology beyond research laboratories toward widespread standardization.
