ETSI Releases First Version of Open-Source Operator Platform to Enable Telco Cloud Network Federation & 6G Experimentation – ETSI

ETSI SDG OpenOP has released its first version of an open-source Operator Platform designed to enable network federation and expose telecom capabilities via developer-friendly CAMARA APIs. The release integrates key components including an Open Exposure Gateway, a Service Resource Manager for orchestration, and a Federation Manager to support distributed edge domains across multiple operator environments. A notable achievement is the successful integration with an open-source 3GPP Network Exposure Function to validate CAMARA Location and Quality on Demand APIs. The platform also features an AI integration layer that translates natural language prompts into API operations using Large Language Models. This release serves as a reproducible baseline for experimentation and community feedback, supported by a growing ecosystem of 24 industry members and eight EU-funded research projects.
